About
Claytime is a paint-your-own-pottery studio in Shrewsbury, MA, bringing creative fun to Worcester County since 1999. Pick from hundreds of ceramic shapes, choose your colors, and our staff will help you make a one-of-a-kind piece — we glaze and kiln-fire it for you. Located on Rt. 9 East in the White City East Plaza. Walk-ins welcome; reservations recommended on weekends and school vacations.
What you can do in the studio
• Pottery painting — priced by the piece (most $22–$34), including paint time, glazing and firing. Glazes are unleaded and non-toxic; dinnerware is food safe once fired.
• Glass fusing — drop in any time to make plates, bowls, votives, night lights, tiles, jewelry and garden stakes. We fuse it in our kiln and call you when it's ready.
• Stoneware — high-fire glazes that move and flow, offered only through our workshops.
• Clay hand-building and wheel throwing — through our workshops.
Birthday parties
Pottery, plate/bowl/mug, fused glass night light and Stuff a Critter parties in our private party room with a dedicated Claytime staff member. Weekend parties book online; for other days and times, call the studio. Party ToGo: pick out the pottery and we'll send you home with everything you need to host a Claytime party yourself — call to arrange.
Summer programs
Half-day creative programs (9am–1pm) for kids 7 and up, in 2-, 3- and 5-day options. Dates are posted each spring.
Scout troops
Earn a Claytime badge or just create for fun — clay building, pottery painting, Words on Wood board art, glass fusing and stuffed animals. We also carry licensed Girl Scout bisque (cookie box, mug, ornament and cookie bank). Come to us, or with 15 or more we'll come to you.
We come to you
For groups of 20 or more we bring all the supplies and staff: PTO family fun nights and school fundraisers, after-school enrichment, summer camps, church, recreation and college groups. Corporate events and team building on site or virtual (ask about our Office Party Mug Switch).

Adult/Child Wheel Throwing and Clay Building
Spend some creative time together and try something new! This two-hour workshop is a fun way to bond while learning the basics of clay.
Wheel throwing (about 1 hour): centering clay on the wheel, shaping and forming, and creating your own bowl or wheel-thrown piece.
Clay hand building (about 1 hour): shape, build and create your own projects by hand with our instructors' guidance.
Includes two hours of instruction, all clay and supplies, kiln firing, and at least two clay projects per person. Pieces are ready in about two weeks (drying and firing times vary).
Pricing: $95 per adult/child pair. $25 is due at booking (one booking per pair); the $70 balance is due the day of the workshop.
Want to paint your creations? Reserve a table during open studio hours — the studio fee is $8 per person and includes glazing and kiln firing.

Hand-Built Clay Mug
Get your hands in the clay and build your very own mug from scratch — no pottery wheel needed!
Our instructor will guide you step by step as you:
• Shape and build your mug by hand
• Create and attach a handle
• Add texture, patterns, stamps or decorative details
• Personalize it to make it completely your own
No experience necessary. All clay, supplies, instruction and kiln firing are included.
Your mug stays at Claytime to dry and be fired — typically ready in about 2 weeks. Then come back during regular studio hours to paint it with ceramic glazes ($8 studio fee per person).

Stoneware Peacock Technique
Create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind stoneware piece using our Peacock Design technique! In this step-by-step workshop we'll show you how to use flux and specialty stoneware glazes to create the flowing, colorful peacock effect on a bowl or another stoneware piece of your choice.
Pricing: the $8 + tax registration fee reserves your spot. Stoneware pieces are purchased separately the night of the workshop.
No experience necessary. Bring your friends — we supply the creative fun! Your project stays at the studio to be kiln-fired and is picked up at a later date.

• A FREE decorated plate for the birthday child with all the guests' names on it
• Bring your own food, snacks, cake and ice cream — we have a refrigerator and freezer you can use
• Clean-up included, so you can relax!
Leave the party pieces with us to be glazed and kiln-fired to a bright, shiny finish. We'll call you in about 2 weeks when they're ready — each child's piece is bagged and labeled.

Plate, Bowl and Mug Party
Great for younger children! Everyone paints their own cereal bowl, sandwich plate or cocoa mug. You have 2 hours to party.
$300 for up to 10 painters, $24 for each additional painter (up to 18).
Package includes:

• A dedicated Claytime staff member to run your party and help everyone paint
• A FREE decorated plate for the birthday child with all the guests' names on it

Fused Glass Night Light Party
Great for children 7 and up! Everyone designs and creates their own fused-glass night light. You have 2 hours to party.

The glass is fused in our kilns, then night lights are attached, packed and labeled for pick-up within two weeks.

Stuff a Critter Party
A party everyone loves (ages 5 and up)! Each child chooses a soft, cozy animal to stuff — every critter gets a heart, adoption papers, and a tote bag to decorate. The birthday child also receives a special HAPPY BIRTHDAY tote. You have 2 hours to party.
$350 for up to 10 participants, $28 for each additional participant (up to 18).
Package includes:
• A private party room (seats 10–18 guests)
• A dedicated Claytime staff member to run your party
• A FREE tote for the birthday child with all the guests' names on it
• Bring your own food, snacks, cake and ice cream — we have a refrigerator and freezer you can use
